  1. I had given up on kali linux for anything serious because it was always so hopelessly out of date.

Decided to give 2.0 a try. I wonder is anyone bothered to test anything? My first try was to do a distribution upgrade from a working 1.1 installation. I’ve been working with various unix’s for close to 40 years, and believe me when i tell you I know how to follow instructions to the letter. I did, and the dist-upgrade rendered my working system completely unusable.

So I figured I’d bite the bullet and install fresh from a 2.0 USB. The system runs in Live mode, but is impossible to install because it can’t find the CD. Well, of course not. There is no CD.

I’m back to debian and I’ll load and manage my tools myself. Kali can stick it!

  2. Hello there,

I’ ve running Kali 2.0 (arm) on a Raspi2, works fine. (earlier an 1.1 arm version)

Running Kali 2.0 on an USB 3.0 stick, works fine.

Now I’m gonna install Kali 2.0 (full 64bit) on a test pc.

I have to learn a lot more about Linux but what I can say by now is that Kali 2.0 is running nice.

Otherwise I had to take time and learn more about Kali 2.0.

  3. I installed kali 2.0 without any problem..I noticed though it selects flash disks..Just plug out the USB when this error occurs, then plug it in to a different USB

  4. How to add boot information in powerISO? I entered boot folder destination F:\boot\efi.img.. after that it said it was “Bootable Image” so I burned it on DVD and it just won’t boot.. I set PC to boot from CD-ROM and when I restart computer with Kali Linux CD in it won’t boot, I just get black screen.. No “Press any key to boot from CD..” What did I do wrong?

  5. I can not install kali linux 2.0 from my bootable usb drive, after i choose keyboard layout it shows error that cd-rom is not mounted although i m installing from usb drive. How can i solve this please help me.

  6. I’ve had BTR5 & Kali 1 on my desktop for some time now. Just bought a laptop and tried to install Kali 2 on Oracle VM and after install I’m getting a blank black screen. What went wrong?

    • Saurav,

It appears you tried to dual boot your system ; Do you see the partition on which you installed Kali inside Windows OS?

  9. I followed the directions on the Kali website. I downloaded the official ISO, used Win32 Disk Imager to make my USB bootable, used the partition manager to shrink an existing partition and thus make an unallocated partition. Then I restarted and booted from the USB, I’ve tried both installer and graphic installer, but whenever I get to the part where I choose the partition to install on, the options listed are the USB drive and whole hard disk without partition…plz help me…I want to install kali linux..
